Sardinia, Italy

Sardinia has more to enjoying fresh sardines. If you love Carbonara, then sadly you won’t be able to find any pasta, but only nature reserves on Cape Carbonara. On this gulf there are plenty of water activities to do such as snorkelling and scuba diving.

Sardinia has the most heavenly beaches and Cala Mariolu is one of them. Just picture yourself sunbathing on the white sand or swimming in the transparent turquoise waters, and then ending your evening enjoying those fresh sardines. Sardinia has the most picturesque surroundings, which can instantly make you forget all of your worries, making it a perfect sanctuary.

Naxos, Greece

Calling out to those who love wine, Naxos is your beckoning call. It was once the home of Dionysus, the god of wine. Hence, this is why Naxos is famously known as the island for the quality and produce of their wine. So why not enjoy your glass (or bottle) of wine whilst admiring the stunning view of white washed houses bunched together on the hill top, along with the shore aligned at the front and a stone pathway that leads you to a trail.

This island has plenty of day activities to offer, such as horse riding, participating in the Naxos festival and the religious event panigiri; which is a fleet market that is located around the church that celebrates the saints’ day that the church is representing. Or why not attend the tour for the Vallindras Traditional Distillery of Kitron, which shows you the distillery process of how their traditional drink is made. Familiarize yourself with the locals as well as the delicacy of the Greek cuisine and culture, by visiting the inland villages such as Halki, Potamia, Filoti and Apiranthos.

Minorca, Spain

If you’re looking to go somewhere more low-key, then Minorca is the perfect gem. This is the ideal beach holiday, as Minorca has many sandy and rocky bays along with endless beaches that are surrounded by greenery and pine trees. So if you’re in the mood for a sea adventure, do not hesitate to go sailing on the aqua waters at Cala Galdana.

When in Minorca, you must visit Ciutadella de Minorca. This popular city is not only known for its lively nightlife, but it has great history too. Ciutadella has elegant 17th century Italian style buildings, cathedrals and markets that you can visit in the day. At night, there is a transition in the atmosphere of the city. Join the fiesta, as locals host a parade, which includes a lot of dancing and their traditional drink pomada.

Koh Phi Phi, Thailand

This is a perfect getaway for a solo traveller or for a group of friends. After the events of the tsunami, Koh Phi Phi has rebuilt itself and has become a more secure place to stay. A fun fact about this island is that The Beach was filmed here. Koh Phi Phi has action packed activities such as cliff jumping, boat trips, snorkelling and diving. The beauty of this island is what attracted travellers (and the director of The Beach) to come here.
